This tour is especially designed for food lovers who want to explore Thai culture while they sample Bangkok's abundant selection of sensational cuisine! Purple Dragon has surveyed many cooking schools in Bangkok to find one that allows every student to have their own work station and wok. Why just sit and watch the chef have all the fun? So, roll up your sleeves and prepare to impress all your friends when you get back home and share the Flavors of Siam. You do not have to be gay to enjoy this great Bangkok holiday. Our mainstream guests choose Purple Dragon because they know they will get something better from a gay company.
We're waiting for you at the airport with private car to zip you to your hotel right in the heart of the Silom area. Drop by our office if you would like our recommendations for Bangkok's Best restaurants, both Thai and international, so that you may experience the very best in dining during your stay.
Nine a.m. departure from your hotel for a charming tropical oasis tucked away in urban Bangkok. During each half-day class you will learn to make classic Thai dishes like green chicken curry, pad thai noodles, banana pudding, spicy prawn soup, or papaya salad. Bring a bit of exotic Bangkok back home to your kitchen to impress your friends and family. It's lots of fun and easy to do! Everyone is provided with an individual cooking station and classes are intimate (limited to 10 people). Four dishes are taught during each half-day class and the menu changes daily (five different menus are offered).
You'll be back at your hotel by 2pm where our guide will join you to explore the city's food, culture and arts. You can customize your program with the guide each day to explore at your own pace: visit the reclining golden Buddha of Wat Po, the glittering stupas of The Grand Palace, the teakwood villa of Jim Thompson, the gay American who resurrected Siam's languishing silk artistry, traditional markets or fabulous shopping bazaars.
This evening select from a fantastic number of dining options in a city that is truly a culinary paradise. Our guide will make sure that you find your way to your preferred choice. If you like, you may invite the guide to join you for dinner (they are at your service until 10pm, so you can even do a little exploration of Bangkok's bustling night markets and famous nightlife after dinner).
Repeat the previous day's schedule -- cooking class at 9 a.m., followed by your own personal guide at 2 p.m. for city touring during the afternoon and evening.
For a change of pace today, our guide will pick you up at 10am to tour the canals of the "Venice of the East" in a zippy long-tail boat, with a stop at the Royal Barge Museum to see the King's golden armada of celestial boats. Afterwards, drop by Wat Arun, Temple of the Dawn, one of Asia's most memorable sacred sites. Alternatively, you might like to visit one of Bangkok's traditional markets. Then, enjoy a noontime feast of Royal Thai cuisine overlooking the River of Kings, at the world-famous Oriental Hotel. By this time you'll recognize many of the dishes and ingredients used to prepare these exotic
eatables. Afterwards, our guide is at your service until 6pm. Your evening is free.
Free time until your private transportation to the airport, or you man extend your stay for additional cooking classes or discover more delights in
beautiful Chiang Mai, Pattaya beach resort,
Phuket Island, or even a side trip to
majestic Angkor Wat in nearby Cambodia!
